Sim Card Confusion

Hi all,

I've just bought a 67 Disco 5 SD 2.0 and bit confused as the Nav seems to be working from the Sim Card in the central console. Reading the manuals though it says that this is the Sim Card slot can be used to put create a WiFi hotspot by inserting a phone sim card. Presumably if I take this card out then the Nav won't work?

Sat Nav will work without a SIM card but it works from Memory rather than searching live data.
