Which engine to buy?

Hello,

I’m looking to buy an approved used 2020/2021 3.0 litre diesel Discovery. However, I’ve had the wind put up me by talk all over the web of catastrophic engine failure.

The problems seem to be with the dv6 and crankshaft failure. This is putting me off the 2019 dv6 that I currently have a deposit on.

My questions is: is the 2021 d300 in-line a less-risky option? I understand this engine has some problems with the drive-chain but it seems to be less frequent and less likely to cause total engine failure?

Any advice appreciated.

I believe the d300 inline six is more reliable than the sdv6 however make sure to change the oil every 5k to make sure nothing does Happen and get it done by ur local jlr, they will be extortionate but it will be worth it if anything does end up going wrong
