Aftermarket Tweaks to Disco 5 Luxury

Post by Woodenman » Fri Oct 26, 2018 9:51 pm

Just got an 11 month old HSE Luxury just under a year old, after suffering crushing depreciation on a BMW M5 (which is a fantastic car mind)..

I seemed to get a pretty good deal on, but it meant I didn't quite get everything I wanted, but all cosmetic.

It's in Carpathian grey with 21 inch silver wheels, but......

I would like to switch for 21 inch Black wheels, the '1012' ones
I would like to add a 'black pack'
Roof rails
and likely side steps.

I realise the most likely response, is 'why didn't you wait, you donkey', but there you go...

Has anyone added these after purchasing and was it relatively easy.
I've found some wheels with new tyres, but will need to sell the ones I have and I'm not sure if doing these would affect the warranty at all, if I didn't pay Land Rover dealership prices....

Any info gratefully received.

Hi there, l added the side steps and mud flaps, had them supplied and fitted by direct 4 x 4 at derby, a lot cheaper than main dealer, and even my main dealer said they look good

Yep, the D5 second hand values drop like a brick too.

Thanks for the replies.
Did I read that correctly that you had the wheels refinished in black, as opposed to getting black wheels? I might be misreading that....

I've heard good things about 4x4 Derby a few times now...think I'll use my local land rover specialist to black it up and fit rails and side steps, probably Land Rover ones then just look bewildered if it's ever queried.... or try...

I'm not expecting good things from the depreciation. I've just bought an 11 month old car with a list (for that it's worth) of £75k, for £50k with 6000 miles and that was from a dealer!!! Scary! That's actually worse than my M5, which was brand new to be fair but wasn't as bad as the LR.
I'm going to count on the fact that I become very famous in the next two years and so it will sell for more by virtue of my fame. I just need to figure out what I'm going to be famous for now......

I've recently purchased a set of side steps from sidesteps.co.uk, based in Wolverhampton. As I'm located in Shropshire I went to pick them up and the owner fitted them without asking FOC. No cutting of any under body protection, just bolted straight onto the existing mounting holes. Really substantial steps. The step frame is completely moulded in rubber so no corrosion issues for the future. Well worth the higher cost.

I ordered the black pack, but it wasn’t delivered with mine. The dealer was able to swap all of the necessary components to the black pack spec.
