Hi
I was thinking of getting the Discovery sport but due to the oil dilution issue and the B-pillar rattle issue I decided against it.
Now I am considerung the Discovery. Do they have the same issues or others?
In Malta we do a lot of short distances and not many motorways.
Thanks for any help or feedback.

Hi the 3litre engine suffers with dilution problem the 2litre is fine so I'm led to believe. I've had mine a year and very happy with it.

Sadly not just LR apparently. The problem seems to be modifying existing engines to comply with new legislation. I suppose manufactures are loath to develop new diesel units when they are looking to ban them in a few years.
This makes for interesting reading if you have not already seen it.

David, get a petrol engined D5. Will be much better for island life. Diesel MPG will be low anyway as they are designed for long cruising runs for best efficiency.

Mechanically the D5 is in my experience far better built and engineered than the DS (I had two DS’s). No B Pillar issue or creaks and rattles.

InControl Touch Pro is still buggy even after the latest software updates. But generally it’s a pretty good system.

Only the diesels suffer as far as I know. LR site will have technical specs for MPG. Real world though, no idea. But short journeys will kill any dreams of decent MPG in a 2 tonne car ;)
