Anyone got the Discovery 5 iPhone Connect and Charge Dock? I'm interested in one but I can't make out from the photos where it gets its power.

Hi, can you send me the info too? I assume that it charges the iPhone but doesn’t link it to the ‘apps’ or infotainment?

Thanks Barry

Hi

Sure i can send you the notice. Give me your email (MP)
regarding the system, it is not a simple charger. he is linked with the infotainment. you need to install Land Rover APPS on your iPhone
he is linked with music, apps etc... http://gear.landrover.com/gb/en/discove ... arge-dock/

On your iPhone : https://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/land-ro ... 00128?mt=8

It 's really great

Thanks to Rolly for sending me the fitting instructions. I found that you need to drill holes in the cup holder and center console to route the USB cable into the port under the armrest. I'm really not up for this, especially as the car gets swapped out every 9 months or so. I need to find a solution with minimal cable trailage if anyone has any advice.

I just use a very short cable and keep my iPhone 7 on the tray under the centre armrest.

Ah ok. Does it display messages and reminders on the center screen?

If you mean does the LR apps still work, then yes.

I thought the holder was more about convenience for connecting rather than functionality.

It still connects to a USB socket, but to be honest I did not find Apps to be that good.

Hi all,

I've just purchased one of these docks. The instruction say to remove the "floor console top finisher" and to see the workshop manual (which I don't have of course) for how to do it.

I'd appreciate any advice as to how to do this.

Cheers,

Mark

Update.

LR sent me the section of the workshop manual.

While I'm sure I could do all of what is required I'm not keen to do it on a 2 week old D5 and from experience with the D3 and D4 I know it is very easy to lose those clips!

LR Dealer agreed I could get my money back.

I did look at the clipon bracket but I don't like where it mounts. Going to look for an option that mounts to the hard plastic on the RHS of the dash next to the pillar.
