I see Landrover quote over £600 to supply and fit roof rails. Is it cheaper to buy aftermarket ones and anyone done this. They easy to fit?

Thanks

Yeah - I got non OEM roof rails. You need to buy the LR replacement 'Alpine lights' panels and ditch finishers that have the cutouts for the rail |(they're about £200 for both). Its relatively easy to do, worse part was prising the existing alpine lights off - lots of creaking and cracking! I got a thule aerobar and 'feet' adapters from roofbox.co.uk rather than buying LR cross rails as it gives you the option of replacing the feet should you change cars. You can then just follow the installation instructions for them here -

It took me about 3 hours by myself to fit them - that was mainly taken up by getting the alpine lights off.
