We've had our 17 plate HSE now for just over a week, but today I've just got around to setting up the InContol stuff. I bought a 4G dongle to use in the car for the kids and their tablets as I noticed that the built in hotspot was only 3G. I realised yesterday that I can connect the Discovery to the hotspot. Great I though as now the car can have a 4G data connection. However, the car does not seem to get internet access when connected, which means it can never authenticate to the InControl servers on the web. I tried logging in several times, and also tried direct web browsing on the head unit, all no good. My phone however works fine connected to the dongle, so I know thats good.
Putting the SIM in the car is no better, it shows a 3G signal bar but no signal. Have I missed a step somewhere?
No internet connection
No you've not missed a step if you put the SIM in the car it should pick up WIFI 3 or 4G, mine never worked either ( second hand 18 plate purchased from main dealer) I had to moan several times but they did fix it.
The problem was a faulty TELEMATICS CONTROL MODULE which was replaced, all wifi services work fine now, i cant tell how much this cost as my car was still under warranty .
Hope this helps.
