Hi David I had a Discovery Sport for 12 months trouble free motoring, and it was a great car how i have a 2lt Discovery 5. It's in a different league to a sport, it's a huge car and brilliant to drive. The 2 lt might suit your needs in sunny Malta let us know what you get and put some photos on.

My Discovery Sport was the new 2lt manual engine and the Discovery 5 is the same 2lt engine but I believe it has a couple of tubo's to boast the power. I've got to say it doesn't feel underpowered it's real quick for such a big car, good luck with your choice.

The Discovery 3L TDV6 has oil dilution issues like the 2L TD4 Discovery Sport.

The 2L TD4 in the Discovery does not as its exhaust system is a different design.

The petrol D5 gets between 16-19 mpg for me in the city. If the auto stop works it is to the higher end in stop and go traffic

The 3L diesel. The 2L doesn’t.
