Hi all,
I was a little disappointed to find the InControl system has no built-in streaming media apps, instead relying on a USB connection to your phone to use it's installed apps. I don't really like having to plug my phone into the USB every time I get in the car. The official cup holder mount requires holes to be drilled in the console to feed the USB cable, which i'm not going to do.
Anyway, I bought a data-only sim to keep the InControl Remote apps working when it's not parked outside the house using WiFi. It struck me that if I bought a cheap android phone I could just put the data sim in it and keep it tucked away in the cubby, connected to the USB, keeping it charged. I could then use it as a permanent WiFi hotspot in the car, giving it permanent connection to my main phone's InControl Remote app, as well as the streaming apps I put on the android.
Can anyone see why this wouldn't work?
