Here in the US, I was trying to circumvent the use of the AT&T SIM card that came with the car, unsuccessfully.
Apparently, - according to my dealer's info system specialist - it is not possible to use any other provider, nor it is possible to use one's own phone to provide faster internet (the built-in is 3G only) via phone-hotspot to the car. Must use the provided AT&T SIM (which requires to let AT&T get all my info about everything.
The car even puts out a message that it is not possible to connect to a wifi network while the car is moving.
Since my family is not with AT&T, nor we want to use them, I can not use a few things like real-time traffic info (a must have in LA traffic). Currently, - unless I give in and start sending all my info to yet another company - I am better off using my mobile phone as navigation, put out to the speakers in the car.
Did anyone inquire about this elsewhere, maybe at land rover customer service?
