Going to between Bordeaux and Toulouse in august from Leeds . Any suggestions re ferry crossings and stopovers? I am thinking Calais, overnight Le Mans, then end destination.

Also could do more driving overseas by doing Hull to Zeebrugge but a lot more expensive, and would still need to stop overnight around Le Mans.

Might be able to stay with friends in London and get to Folkestone in the morning for either Chunnel or ferry crossing as well.

Ideally there will be a price/value/time balance in the answers!

Depends if price or enjoyment is the key factor?

Definitely avoid Paris, I would take a couple of days to do it and enjoy some good food and wine on the way.

We travel through the Tunnel a couple of times each year and take our time and plan it around the overnight stops for good food.

I would suggest you work out your route and divide it into what you are comfortable to drive each day and then look in a 10-20 mile radius of that for a pleasant overnight stay.
