HSE Luxury electronic problems

Hi guys, a Disco newbie and finally after quite a few months my new Disco 5 HSE Luxury is in my possession. Loving the Namib Orange.

But..............not impressed with the problems encountered with the infotainment system. Took it back in to local LRJ dealer and after 3 days (3 days of a Discovery Sport courtesy car ......... thank goodness I waited for the 5!!!) only to be told there is going to be a software upgrade, but they have still to build the upgrade. Ok!?!?!?

Anyone else out there had similar problems to date and any responses from your dealers?

My challenges to date are -
- CD/DVD player recognises the discs when it feels like it
- the rear screens are on all the time and you have to manually go through the infotainment system to switch off (should be the other way round)
- rear screens flash really bright after 5-1- seconds on entering vehicle (welders googles needed!)
- can't get logged o to live (error code 015)
- infotainment functionality freezing up every now and then

Not a happy bunny LR and not impressed by the lack of communication on the matter. :o(

We have the same and now the speakers are crackling when warning tones sound. SatNav is slow and freezes now and its routes ... well a smart car would struggle on some of the roads so losing confidence in it.

Good Morning All,

Encountered something similar the screen on the dash just does its own thing and flashes back and forward across the menus also the back boot does not lock all the time.
I work away so my Mrs is not impressed as she liked our old Disco better as we had that for 2 years and it never missed a beat.

@craigp - No private message come through yet Craig.

Glad I'm not the only one out there and yesterday I gave up trying to set up the data only SIM functionality. Has anyone booked a technical overview with their local dealer to really go over the incontrol pro side of the vehicle.

Hi, everyone. Just bought the 5 a few months ago as an upgrade from the 4. I’m having the same problem in that the DVD player doesn’t recognise the DVD. It can be working fine but then you try change the DVD and it won’t recognise a new one. 🤬

Then if you turn the car off (you can’t just turn off the head unit you have to turn the entire car off), leave it for 10-15 minutes then turn it on again it’s fine and recognises the DVD. So annoying!

Does anyone have any update on this?

First thing is to make the infotainment is at the latest level which is 18D, you can find this out in the menu's somewhere.

I had one of the first D5's in customer hands in Australia (TDV6 HSE Lux). From day one there was a problem with the display sort of flickering a little left to right randomly just occasionally with no obvious trigger. At first the dealer, who were excellent about it by the way, thought it was a hardware issue and replaced the media unit under the seat and later I believe also the screen. In the end it turned out to be a software update that fixed it. The update changed the screen layouts quite a bit so I knew it had been done! Problem solved, it never did it again.

I did say "had" one of the first, I have since replaced it with a new one because of some issues around options not delivered in the first one. I have to say that the latest update, built Feb-2019, seems a lot better - I don't know how but it seems smoother, transmission works better, engine is more powerful (30 more kW) and responsive, and the driver assist stuff works better. Its newer, time will tell although I only had the other one for 22 months. I've now had 5 Discoveries over the last 23 years and this one is on another level. Maybe a bit too posh but that suits me!

Like you i was one of the first to get the D5. I went with the SE trim so not been having the issues that quite a few of you have been having with the infotainment system in the HSE and above. My plan was to keep this car for a good few years but must admit to getting itchy feet now its into its 3rd year (just). Absolutely love the car so would without doubt consider another one.
