New to Discovery ownership - bit of advice

Post by Woodenman » Fri Oct 26, 2018 4:31 pm

Just got an 11 month old HSE Luxury just under a year old, after suffering crushing depreciation on a BMW M5 (which is a fantastic car mind)..

I seemed to get a pretty good deal on, but it meant I didn't quite get everything I wanted, but all cosmetic.

It's in Carpathian grey with 21 inch silver wheels, but......

I would like to switch for 21 inch Black wheels, the '1012' ones
I would like to add a 'black pack'
Roof rails
and likely side steps.

I realise the most likely response, is 'why didn't you wait, you donkey', but there you go...

Has anyone added these after purchasing and was it relatively easy.
I've found some wheels with new tyres, but will need to sell the ones I have and I'm not sure if doing these would affect the warranty at all, if I didn't pay Land Rover dealership prices....

Any info gratefully received.

The wheels will cost you for an unmarked set.

The black pack, if you mean side vents, lettering and grille is easy enough, just a gentle prising of tabs etc. on the whole. There’s some genuine ones on eBay, but the grille will be over £100.

Roof rails are certainly an easy one, but expensive if you want genuine LR ones. Watch the really cheap
Chinese ones. Good for decoration, not for carrying.

Side steps likewise, although there a pretty decent set of non LR ones at £400 that a lot of people really like and are completely black, instead of the £700 LRs for genuine.

Fitting yourself is fine, won’t effect the warranty, only on the non LR items you fit.

Thank you.
Yes, I think wheels will be quite expensive, slightly offset by selling the ones I have, hopefully..
I think I might go for the Landrover roof rails and the black side steps you mentioned, but all fitted by my local land rover specialist, not main dealer.
Hopefully warranty will be ok.

Thanks for the reply.
