Hi just joined this forum and was surprised to learn the leaking windscreen is still happening. My disco is a 2017 model that was registered on 20th Feb 2017 it was a demonstrator for the dealer I purchased it from. This Feb it developed a leak so when it went in for its service I mentioned it to the dealership and they replaced the windscreen because it hadn’t bonded. So for 21 months I have been driving around in a car with a dodgy windscreen but what is more concerning is it is still happening.

I had a leaking sunroof on my MY 2017 as well a few months ago. Aparently the drain was not connect from the factory. However my dealership put the problem into high priority, changing whatever was needed as some parts, control boxes etc, were damaged. I received top notch service and hopefully everything is fine now.

Hi Steve,

My 2018 HSE has also developed the same issue - headlining saturated and now travelling down the cover on the A pillar on drivers side. LR Dealer told me they couldn't get me in until 10 June as no cars. Went through LR Assistance to get it booked in as a breakdown and managed to get car in next day with a LR Assistance car as courtesy. That was last Friday but receive a voicemail today to say that they have found source of leaks - there are 2 small cracks in the body on the roof for which they are having to engage with a LR approved body specialist. Waiting for a call back to understand if this is Manufacturing defect or something else but have to say I'm not impressed. Will update when I find out what issue is.

Want to see pics of the cracks or go and visually inspect before any work carried out.

Cheers

Ade

Update:

I've now spoken with the dealer who advised me that they have put the car under water pressure on the roof without the roof rail bars on and found the sites of the water ingress inside the car. Upon inspection of the body they have noted what can only be described as a 'hairline fracture of the body' on one side and a star shaped indent on the other. Both of which are allowing water into the car. I am somewhat concerned at the fracture as he also mentioned body flex in the same sentence (i know all cars have some degree of body flex). I am making no comment at this stage as they are waiting for a LR approved body specialist to come in to assess route cause and then determine next steps.

Should the fracture have been caused by body flex then I shall not be wanting any kind of repair - I shall be asking for my money back and some!!!

Hi everyone
I’ve just bought a used 2017 HSE Luxury that I was delayed in getting because of a water leak from the windscreen. They’ve fixed it apparently and it’s due to have new carpets next week. I brought it home so I could cancel the warranty on my p/x Discovery 4 and get my refund. However, i’m not 100% sure it’s been resolved. My discovery 4 had a leak from the sunroof drain which I had fixed. Has anyone else had this problem with the discovery 5. They told this particular fault had been rectified on the new model. Really hoping I haven’t paid £50000 for a dud car!!??

Hi everyone.

Another one for the Land Rover Discovery 5 “Wet One” club.
Bought a 2018 Discovery sdv6 HSE in September this year.

One week later found headlining, a pillar and drivers footwell wet after rain the previous night. Contacted dealer to be referred to the service dept who suggested bringing the car in 3 weeks later when they would have a vehicle available for me to use or alternatively leave the car in immediately and make my own way home 30 miles away!! I decided to wait until I could arrange transport back home.

A few days later I went out to the car after rain and found water running down the inside of the windscreen and the side of the dash. I contacted the dealer and advised that the car would be left with them that morning. Still no availability of courtesy cay. Two weeks later I was informed that windscreen was leaking and replacement on back order. Car was delivered back to me about a week later.

The next morning I found drivers footwell wet again. Phoned dealership and expressed exasperation, car picked up and courtesy car delivered. Just over a week later, I picked up the car to be told, it was not a leak, just the carpets hadn’t been dried out! (Wet for 3weeks! Will rot and mould be covered by warranties? What if water got behind dash?)

I am now wondering what I have bought and what level of dealer support I can expect. After years of good customer care from BMW, SKODA and Volvo, I am left very uncertain of the quality of support from Land Rover dealerships.

Hi, I bought a LandRover 2018 Discovery HSE Lux five weeks ago from a LandRover main dealer. After two weeks the windscreen top left started leaking with little rivers of water running down the glass. The headlining from the passenger door to the drivers door as soaking. Water drips off the rear-view mirror onto the centre console. The passenger side carpet also has an obvious large puddle.
The dealer I bought it from cannot look at it for six weeks however speaking to the breakdown guy today, he said that this is a known problem My dealer currently have 4 cars in for repair with the same problem and the local dealer has 1. He said that LandRover should recall these cars. So, it looks like just really bad build quality. British car manufacturers are the only people who are still in the 21st century incapable of making a car watertight. Oh! It does have a wade depth of 900mm, just don’t go out in the rain. It seems like the seats need to come out along with the whole facia and a new windscreen needs to be replaced. They need to move production to the old Soviet bloc. British workers were never good at making cars. Although the problem may just be profit and greed. If its under warranty JLR need to fix the problem properly. Tell as many people as possible and maybe JLR may do the decent thing, manufacture the cars properly and recall the KNOW bad ones. Good Luck.
