Left Lower Air Intake - Seal Misfit

Hi
Just spotted on my recently acquired 21MY 300 RDynamic that the seal that goes behind the lower front air intake has not been fitted properly. It has what appears to be door seal around the front edge on the left hans side which is stopping it seating properly along the front edge (see image). Had a look at one of similar age and it didn't have it. Has anyone else got the same thing? Is it some kind of poorly executed modification? Or was some form of protection left on during production?
Not impossible to remove but will be difficult and could possibly involve removing the front bumper. Going to the retailer tomorrow..
