Hi,

I think I saw a thread in this forum which showed the issue above and said it is a known issue with a solution at hand.
I wasn't able to find that thread again though... Anyone knows about that issue or the topix ID? Did anyone of you get it fixed already?

Greets & thanks,
Hauser

Just coming from my dealer. He would exchange everything that is damaged. BUT that means the whole tailgate, since it's one peace! So they would order a new tailgate, paint it, insert a window and swap all the parts like backlights, wiper, etc. from the old to the new one. :( That's crazy!

The same thing happened to mine. The dealer changer the plastic trim on the body side, and repainted the rub mark. Cant tell it ever happened now. Done under warranty.

Hi Will,

so the tailgate is not one peace? My dealer told me outer and inner part is one peace so he would have to swap the whole tailgate.
That wouldn't be an option for me, since the chances of something going wrong there is just huge. Swapping just the inner part would be great though!

ask your dealer for the detail of the Topix action?

There is actually no topix action for this. It's up to the dealer to decide if they want to exchange the damaged parts or not.
The only topix action there is, is to determine if the tailgate is not correctly adjusted and could end up damaged. (Which in my case is too late...)

Today I went to have a look at a brand new demo 2021 Discovery 5 with the D300 Ingenium straight six diesel engine with mild 48v hybrid.

The tailgate has the same issue as the picture above from 2018.

Unbelievable, Land Rover! 3 years later, same problem still unresolved.

At least, Land Rover has finally decomissioned the SDV6 engine and replaced it with the Ingenium. Hopefully the new Ingenium engine is a more reliable unit than the SDV6.
