Hi - new to forum. Have searched issues related to Oil Service but couldn’t find what I need.
I have a Discovery 5 HSE Luxury 3.0 Diesel. Brand new in Oct 2017. Has covered 2,500 miles and now needs an oil service for £400. Dealer refusing to cover under warranty. Has anyone experienced same issue? Bought a new car because I wanted relatively worry free motoring for at least a few years.
I can’t believe that a brand new car requires an oil change these days within 2500 miles or 4 months - regardless of driving style.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Oil service @ 2,500 miles..??
Hi, welcome.
search up Oil Dilution issues on the forum, I think I can say that perhaps 30/40% of owners have had this issue. Mine popped up after about 3000 miles. Its a known issue and theres a fix, plus your dealer has to honour it as a defect once they realise its a known issue.
Heres the details from Topix:

Mine also done for free but initially told it would be done using mý service plan, after throwing a tantrum they did it as a good will gesture. The reason being when tested my oil was infact dirty and not a false alarm. I'd done about 5500 miles picked up in April.
3litre SE. Monticello Red. Electric deployable tow bar.

That doesn’t sound good. What has your service centre said..??
If these need oil changes every 2,500 miles they are hardly fit for purpose. Particularly as LR have never informed buyers that these cars will need oil changes every 2,500 miles.
