Tyre Pressure Monitor shows faulty warnings in cold weather

Hi,

just wondered if everyone is having the same issue with the Tyre Pressure Monitor saying to check all the tyres!?

This seems to be an ongoing issue with all Land Rover cars, my wife has exactly the same issue with her Discovery Sport! As soon as the temperature outside falls to less than 5 degrees, the warning shows up on one, or more tyres. At the moment mine is showing all tyres need their pressures checked! And even thought the temperature has risen past the 5 degree mark, its still showing the same errors.

I realise that with colder weather, the air in your tyres and possibly your tyre 'shape' can change, however once again with such an expensive car, you would have thought this was addressed??? Surely anyone on this forum from a country that has even colder weather, doesn't have a constant issue with this piece of tech failing!?!?

Also with my old Discovery 4, you could reset this yourself once you were happy that the tyre(s) that had the issue were fine. Anyone know if this can be done yourself on the D5?

Hi rogersmj you dont say what pressure is in the tyres . One would assume its well in excess of the threshold level. Depending on which level you have set. Cant say ive experienced this problem with the D5 or my previous LR. Except when i had a faulty pressure gauge so the pressures were actually low.

Yeah sorry I didn't mentioned the pressures.

i've checked and they are all exactly as they should be, as I run on light load, they are 34 and 37 psi as it says on the sticker on my door.

And its still coming up this morning! Going to call my dealer and see if I can pop in and they reset it. Don't really want to have to book another appointment to bring it in, either wait an hour, or have to sort out a loan car and so on....

So got into the car this morning, and guess what - No errors with the TMPS! All the tyres still have the same PSI readings, but no faults showing at all...

Its a bit warmer today, so thats all I can put this down to.

So now even though the weather has warmed up, my TPMS still shows one tyre is low, however in the display it has the same pressure as the other tyre on the opposite side!

I'm now wondering if theres a tyre problem, or a system problem! this system isn't worth the trouble, it would be so much better to just leave it to the driver to check their tyre pressures!

And I also hear that if you need to replace a tyre, you have to purchase a 'tyre kit' for the TPMS system to work on a new tyre??? Anyone know anything else about this?

In Finland it is mandatory to change winter tires. We ordered extra 4 TPMS ventils to be placed on winter rims. Car regonized those when drove 15 mins above speed of 80 km/h.

Did you find the cause of this as my tpms is showing a fault the same as your photo. Only 4 days old.
