Well maybe the software updates have changed something.
I started with a distance to next oil service of 3,400 miles. After a 300 mile drive on motorways it now reads 4,150 miles.
I guess it "likes" high speed driving and assumes I will be doing more of the same?
Interesting to see how it behaves on the rest of the trip.
When Landrovers were Landrovers, the handbook used to state that if the vehicle was operating in hot, dusty conditions then the service interval is less, also if you are wading often this also had an impact.
I think that is a reasonable statement and does compare to driving style at least you can understand the reason. I had a 2018 RR Sport and that required servicing at 5000 miles, back to the dealer and was told the same lame excuse, I did comment that my vehicle had not done a lot of wading or off roading, I was told that Land Rovers are designed for extreme off road use, the dealership has looked after my Land Rovers since 1994 and are well aware of what my vehicles are used for. on and off road, they did offer me a free oil and filter change.
I have now purchased a Disco 5 HSE Lux but specced the 2.0L Diesel ingenious engine, so far so good.
To Mordred if you do decide on a Discovery, you will need to expect more than one trip a year to your dealer, maybe not a service issue but many other warranty issues, although the approved used warranty is second to none.
